Privacy policy
Last updated 19 August 2026
Written to be read. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it properly — and change the wording.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the service and nothing we cannot justify.
- We never sell your data.
- Advertising cookies only load if you accept them. Declining costs you nothing.
- People who receive your page are not tracked by any third party.
- You can delete a page, or your whole account, and it goes.
Who we are
DateCloser (“we”) operates datecloser.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at privacy@datecloser.com.
What we collect
If you have an account
- Your email address. It is how you sign in — we have no passwords.
- What you put on your pages: names, messages, photo links, dates.
- How you arrived: the campaign or link that brought you, recorded once at signup.
- Billing details held by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers.
- Usage: pages made, published and responded to.
If someone sent you a page
You do not need an account and we do not build a profile of you. We record that the page was opened — as a per-page, per-day hashed value, never your IP — so the sender can see it arrived. If you respond, we store your answer and anything you typed, and send it to them. That is all.
We load no advertising or analytics scripts on a shared page. You never agreed to anything with us, and those pages are often personal.
Why we are allowed to
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email, pages, responses | To provide the service | Contract |
| Sign-in codes, rate limits | To keep accounts secure | Legitimate interests |
| Payments and invoices | To take payment and meet tax law | Contract / legal obligation |
| Product analytics | To see where the product confuses people | Legitimate interests |
| Advertising cookies | To measure our ads | Consent — you can decline |
Who else sees it
Only processors we rely on to operate, each bound by contract:
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Postmark | Sending sign-in codes and notifications |
| Stripe | Payments and subscriptions |
| Meta, Google, TikTok | Advertising measurement — only with your consent |
| Amplitude | Product analytics, without cross-site tracking |
We do not sell personal data, and we never will.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep you signed in and cannot be turned off without breaking sign-in. Advertising cookies from Meta, Google and TikTok load only after you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time — declining is a single click and we do not ask again on every page.
How long we keep things
- Pages: until you delete them or close your account.
- Sign-in codes: ten minutes.
- Page-open records: hashed, and not linkable to a person.
- Invoices: as long as tax law requires, typically seven years.
Your rights
In the EEA and UK you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, or take it elsewhere. Email privacy@datecloser.comand we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
DateCloser is not for under-16s, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this in a way that matters, we will email account holders rather than quietly editing the date at the top.
